Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions about chiropractors in Salado. Knowing the answers to these important questions will help you pick the best chiropractor in Salado for you. If we didn't cover a question you may have, give Crain Chiropractic & Wellness a call at (254) 947-2225 and we will be more than happy to help answer your question.

1. What's wrong?

Accurately identifying the cause of spinal pain or another discomfort almost always requires a thorough consultation and examination. Just as every person is unique and different from the next, so are the health conditions they suffer and the treatments they require. Reserve time with Dr. Crain to discuss your particular case.

2. Can chiropractic care help me?

Chiropractors have years of training in the detection and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and abnormalities common to the spine and extremities. Chiropractic can provide you with the relief you demand now and care into the future to help keep you feeling great. (See the list of commonly treated conditions in our office.) If your condition is out of the chiropractic scope or would be more appropriately managed by another health care specialist, we will gladly make the necessary referral.

3. How much will it cost?

Each office visit is typically $40-$50. We offer a number of flexible payment options to help accommodate those with little or no insurance coverage. We can generally make financial arrangements if needed. We accept cash, check, MasterCard, VISA and Discover.

4. How long will it take?

It is our goal to help you get better as fast as possible. Often times, it may take several visits to make a significant change. As with other healthy habits, once your initial problem has been addressed, it is recommended that you follow-up with periodic spinal check-ups to help keep you healthy. Like your dentist and many of the medical experts are now recognizing, prevention is the key to reducing recurrences of existing health conditions and minimizing new injuries in the future.

5. What is a subluxation?

Improper motion or position of the moving bones of the body are called subluxations. These can irritate nerve tissue and interfere with the normal exchange of information through the nervous system causing a loss of function in the tissues and organs. There are three basic causes of subluxations. Physical causes could include accidents and injuries, repetitive motions and improper lifting. Emotional stresses such as anger, grief and fear can also be a cause. Chemical influences including alcohol, drugs, pollution and poor diet. As a chiropractor, Dr. Crain is trained to detect and remove subluxations through the use of the chiropractic adjustment.

6. What is a chiropractic adjustment?

Chiropractors apply a specific force to the affected joint in order to increase motion and stimulate your body's natural power to heal. There are numerous techniques to adjust the spine and extremities, so Dr. Crain will work with you to find one that meets your comfort level.

7. Can I adjust myself?

Some people make their joints "pop" but that is not an adjustment. Damage can actually occur by mobilizing a joint with weakened muscles and ligaments. Even your chiropractor consults a colleague to benefit from chiropractic care.
